    Podcast: The Nativity Story (2006)

Regular listeners to my podcast will have realised that they are only being cast every two months at the moment, and that the end of November "entry" is late. As we're now into December, I thought it would be a good time to revisit 2006's The Nativity Story (see recent posts).

    Podcast: The Nativity Story (2006)

Speaking of which, I note that director Catherine Hardwicke's latest film - an adaptation of vampire romance novel Twilight - opened last week (20th Nov) at the top of the charts, and, according to Box Office Mojo at least, has now become the highest grossing vampire movie of all time (when not adjusted for inflation). No wonder she's just been signed up to direct the sequel (MTV Movies).

Edit: It now appears that Hardwicke will not be directing the Twilight sequels.

    Podcast: Jesus (1979)

There's a bit of a danger that my podcasts might be becoming bimonthly rather than monthly at the moment. In fact this month's nearly didn't happen either as my son is due to be born tomorrow! However, hopefully I'll be able to get back on track now.

Anyway, July's entry is up. This month it's Jesus (1979) aka The Jesus Film. I've also got a new (to me) laptop this month and am still perfecting the settings. It seems that it's better quality but a little too quiet, but I'd be interested to hear from listeners whether that is, indeed, the case.

    Podcast: Godspell (1973)

Having postponed last month effort the latest podcast entry is up looking at 1973's Godspell. I'm still quite pushed for time so this one is a little shorter than normal.

For those new to my podcasts there are 16 other entries that are also available to download.

    April Podcast (Godspell) Postponed

Just a quick post to let listeners of my podcast know that there's not going to be an entry this month. I had planned to do Godspell (1973), but I've just been too busy this week, and it doesn't look like I'll get the chance next week (or the week after come to that). Hopefully though, I'll get around to it sometime before the end of May. Apologies to anyone that was looking forward to it.

    Podcast: The Passion

See all posts on this film.
Didn't have time to post this yesterday, but my latest podcast entry is up talking about BBC1's The Passion. I think that'll be the last time I discuss the film for a while. The other 15 entries are also still available to download.

    January Podcast Delayed

Apologies to listeners of my Jesus Films Podcast: January's entry is late. Life is just very hectic at the moment. I'm in the middle of doing one house up whilst trying to sell another; I've started an extra job to earn a bit more cash; My other job is going through it's busiest period of the year; and I'm trying to be a husband, father, friend and blogger as well. On top of all of that, this afternoon we're off to Cambridge for the weekend to watch a performance of the musical my brother has written Academy of Death (based on the story of notorious 19th century doctor Robert Knox.

Podcast: The Passion of the Christ

Why do these things always take until the last minute? Having tried to do everything well in advance, I've had a 'mare this month. The computer's been playing up, I've been absolutely exhausted everytime I sat down to re-watch the film and so on, but I've finally posted this month's Jesus Films Podcast. This month it's on The Passion of the Christ (my review).

There are twelve other talks in this particular podcast.

The latest entry in my Jesus film podcast is up, and this month I'm talking about Jesus (1999). That's eleven entries now which means I've been going for a year now (as I didn't do one in December last year. By the way, does anyone know what the podcast equivalent of a blogiversary?).

Podcast: Last Temptation of Christ (1988)

Didn't have time yesterday to post the details of my latest Jesus film podcast on Last Temptation of Christ. It's the ninth talk available on this podcast. The other eight (Jesus of Nazareth, Il Vangelo Secondo Matteo, The Greatest Story Ever Told, Jesus of Montreal, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Miracle Maker, Il Messia and King of Kings) are still available to download.

I've written several pieces on this film already, but having recently listened to the audio commentary on the Criterion Collection version of this DVD (as well as having viewed the other extras) I've been able to bring some new material.

Fans of this film might also like to know that a transcript taken of the film is available at Drew's Script-o-rama.

    Jesus Films Podcast Corrections!!

    Oops!

Yesterday I was obviously having a dizzy day. Not only did I fail to post a link to the podcast to which was the whole reason for the post, but I also forgot to attach the audio file to the post at the Podcast site.

I also forgot to link to the other entries in this podcast. And, as it happened, the rest of the day pretty much sucked as well. Oh well.

Apologies to anyone who tried, in vain to find the MP3 yesterday. I'll try and be more on the ball next month!

    Podcast: King of Kings (1961)

It's reached that point in the month again where I post the latest entry in my Jesus Films Podcast. This month I'm looking at King of Kings (1961) directed by Nicholas Ray.

Despite it's flaws it's one of my top ten Jesus Films, (although perhaps the least defensible selection) mainly down to some great visuals.

    Podcast: Il Messia

The latest Jesus Film Podcast is now available. This month it's Roberto Rossellini's Il Messia. This is partly because I'm going to see Rossellini's other Bible film Atti Degli Apostoli in a couple of weeks but mainly because Il Messia itself will be showing in a few weeks. I've already mentioned the details of these screenings and tickets can be bought from the BFI.

Il Messia is the most obscure film I've discussed thus far, but has always been one of my favourite Jesus films. Preparing this has only increased my appreciation for it.

There are six other talks available to download from this podcast. They are Jesus of Nazareth, Il Vangelo Secondo Matteo (The Gospel According to St. Matthew), The Greatest Story Ever Told, Jesus of Montreal, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Miracle Maker.

    Podcast: The Miracle Maker

It's that point in the month again when I post my latest podcast, and boy did it come around quickly this time! This month I'm looking The Miracle Maker which has recently been released in a special edition DVD. (I'll be posting some notes on the new edition of the DVD shortly.)

The Miracle Maker is the most recent film I've discussed so far, but one of my top ten Jesus films. The five other recordings are still available to download from the podcast. They are Jesus of Nazareth, Il Vangelo Secondo Matteo (The Gospel According to St. Matthew), The Greatest Story Ever Told, Jesus of Montreal and Jesus Christ, Superstar.

    Podcast: Jesus of Montreal

This month I'm discussing Denis Arcand's Jésus de Montréal (Jesus of Montreal). The film tells the story of an actor who gets the role of Jesus in a play, and begins to find his real life becomming more and more like the one he is portraying.

My three previous entries in this podcast are all still available to download: Jesus of Nazareth, Il Vangelo Secondo Matteo (The Gospel According to St. Matthew), and The Greatest Story Ever Told
