A while back, Peter Chattaway drew my attention to the fact that Disney had made 4 cartoons based on the bible, 3 of which were versions of Noah's ark. Peter has now returned to the subject with his post Noah's ark -- two different Disney cartoons. He gives more details here than in that first post, notably looking at how the later 1999 film recycles jokes from the 1933 version, how they use the source material, and how the two films depict animals. I'm keen to see these one day although I'm slightly put off by the thought of spending a lot of money just for a few 5 minute cartoons. Fantasia Donald Duck Noah

The Noah's ark segment from Fantasia 2000, featuring Donald Duck as Noah's assistant—you have a still from it in the post—is a really delightful little piece. I haven't seen the 1933 one.
ReplyDeleteYes, there's really no reason for me not to have seen that one as it's hardly obscure is it. I think I have a friend who has it so I'll have to borrow it form them.
